چکیده
Abstract Many clinicians lack experience in managing trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias (TACs) pregnancy and lactation. In addition to cluster headache, TACs include hemicrania continua, paroxysmal hemicrania, short‐lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache with conjunctival injection tearing/autonomic symptoms (SUNCT/SUNA). Treating these rare, severe conditions often requires off‐label drugs that have uncertain teratogenic potential. the last few years, several new treatment options safety documentation emerged, but clinical guidelines are lacking. This narrative review aimed provide an updated guide good practice recommendations for management of debilitating disorders

EFNS guidelines on the treatment of cluster headache and other trigeminal-autonomic cephalalgias.
Cluster headache and the other trigeminal-autonomic cephalalgias [paroxysmal hemicrania, short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks with conjunctival injection and tearing (SUNCT) syndrome] are rare but very disabling conditions with a major impact on the patient's quality of life. The objective of this study was to give evidence-based recommendations for the treatment of these head...
متن کاملSymptomatic Trigeminal Autonomic Cephalalgias
Trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias (TACs) are primary headache syndromes that share some clinical features such as a trigeminal distribution of the pain and accompanying ipsilateral autonomic symptoms. By definition, no underlying structural lesion for the phenotype is found. There are, however, many descriptions in the literature of patients with structural lesions causing symptoms that are ind...

PURPOSE OF REVIEW This article covers the clinical manifestations and differential diagnosis of the trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias (TACs). RECENT FINDINGS TACs comprise a subgroup of primary headache disorders presenting with lateralized, often severe, pain accompanied by cranial autonomic features. The key syndromes are cluster headache, paroxysmal hemicrania, short-lasting unilateral neu...

Paroxysmal hemicrania (PH) was first described by Sjaastad and Dale and called ‘chronic PH’ 2 years later. The current International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-II) classification criteria requires at least 20 attacks of severe unilateral orbital, supraorbital, or temporal pain, lasting 2–30 min, accompanied by ipsilateral cranial autonomic features such as ptosis, eyelid edema, ...
متن کاملTrigeminal Autonomic Cephalalgias: Beyond the Conventional Treatments
The trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias include cluster headache, paroxysmal hemicrania, short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks, and hemicrania continua. While the majority responds to conventional pharmacological treatments, a small but significant proportion of patients are intractable to these treatments. In these cases, alternative choices for these patients include oral and i...
